Final drive – new or used? Maybe repair?

We have often written on our blog about regeneration of a damaged final drive /final drive repair/ or the entire hydromotor. Contrary to popular belief, a hydromotor is not a very complicated device. As every operator knows, it consists of two parts. They are a hydraulic motor and a speed reducer, commonly known as a final drive. The engine itself does not fail as such. This engine is characterized by the fact that it simply wears. And depending on the degree of operation will lose its strength every few years.

Final drive repair

The entire hydromotor almost never fails. Most often, the satellite transmission or any part of it is broken. An authorized dealer will convince each of us that a hydromotor is an indelible element or that there are no spare parts for it. Hydromotor, like any other element of mechanics, is “repairable”. Regeneration will be much less expensive than buying a new original hydromotor or reduction gear. The regeneration process involves the replacement of all defective transmission components such as bearings, gears, gear shafts, etc. There are several companies on the Polish market that specialize in hydromotor repair. Some of them give up to half a year warranty on items replaced during regeneration. The undoubted advantage is the fact that after regeneration we will have our original hydromotor, with which the machine left the factory.

Final drive purchase

Purchasing new parts and replacing them is usually more profitable than buying a new or used final drive. 70% of our device is functional. Several small parts have failed, which can be successfully installed and brought back to operation. However, there are times when regeneration is impossible or simply unprofitable. Often the cost of parts that need to be replaced in a broken device outweighs the purchase of used one. Some final gears are in such poor condition that regeneration can only restore them to operation for a few months.

What pays off more? There is no clear answer, and it all depends on the type and scale of damage. If our specialists decide that it is worth to repair device, we certainly will not persuade you to buy a new. Much more expensive one. If after analysis they find too much damage, we will offer you the purchase. We offer both new and used final drives. Each of them is in excellent condition, ready to work.
