CAT travel gearbox repair
CAT 325 is quite a popular machine. Therefore, we decided to describe the process associated with its repair and the problem associated with the device’s factory defects. How does CAT travel gearbox repair look like? Learn more by reading the article below!
Of course, the process of travel final drive repairing, like any other, begins with thorough cleaning of all elements. And finding all that have been “damaged” during harm.
In this particular case, the most commonly damaged are:
– upper reduction gears set (in the cover)
– gear ring (in the cover)
– travel final drive shaft
To this, of course, a new set of floating seals should be installed, and – depending on the general degree of wear – you should to consider given to main bearing replacingas well as those inside the gears.
The upper reduction gears set is most often spoiled by the presence of a factory defect of the lid. In a significant number of devices, the gears touch the inside of the lid, which causes them to be wiped. As a result, all three elements are damaged.
Of course, this type of damage can be easily removed by purchasing the right parts or by instructing it a qualified company. Our company has a lot of experience in this type of repair.
Part purchase
When you buying parts, remember that the CAT 325 travel gearbox is the same as 323. But it is different than 322 and 324. Those travel final drives appear to be identical but differ in the number of teeth and the size of the gears. These differences affect the planetary gear ratio. For example, the top row of gears (in the lid) can have 19 or 20 teeth, and the attack shaft 20 or 25. Therefore, in addition to checking the catalog numbers, remember to count the number of teeth too.
