What and how ?
Hydromotors for the rotation of smaller construction machines are much less complex than those of larger models. There are two most popular types of hydraulic motors used to drive the rotation of smaller construction machines. These are piston and rotary engines, so-called “rotators”.
How do you recognize if the swing motor needs repair?
The most common symptoms of damage to the rotation engine are:
– cropping rotation
– long response time for joystick movement
– automatic rotation
– poor turnover on either side or both
Is it fixable?
The rotary hydromotor, like any other mechanical element of the excavator, is “repairable”. In piston engines, the semi-brown valve control plate is most often damaged.
Repair of rotary engines is a bit more complicated – depending on the degree of damage. There are cases that just replace the parts of the rotator responsible for its operation and the engine will regain its former strength. Unfortunately, sometimes the internal part of the rotator body is damaged (worn). Repairing such damage is much more time and capital consuming.
Let’s remember that …
Under no circumstances should we buy a replacement for such devices. Because they have a much shorter service life and a different speed than the original engine. Repair of the rotary hydromotor in 99% does not exceed half the price of a new original engine. Therefore, we think that it makes no sense to buy a new, original engine, since for 50% of the price you can regenerate the current one and, by that much, increase its lifetime.
